VRA Investment Update: Disinflation is Here. Get Ready for 2% Inflation Next Year PLUS Fed Rate Cuts. How We Want to Play It.

Good Thursday morning. July CPI (consumer prices) gained 3.2% on an annual basis, less than the 3.3% consensus from economists estimates. On a month-to-month basis, inflation increased just 0.2%, which was in-line with estimates while year/year CPI came in at 4.7%, matching estimates. The report also said real average weekly earnings were unchanged last month, in another positive sign that the Fed can be less concerned about a wage price spiral.

VRA Investment Update: AAII Sentiment Survey Shocker. Excellent Market Action, Internals. The Breakout in Miners Continues.

Good Thursday morning all. Don’t Forget: The markets are closed tomorrow for Good Friday. Two big developments: last night the AAII Investor Sentiment Survey came in at just 15.8% bulls, one of the 5–6 lowest readings on record. I’ve voted in this survey since the late 1980’s and yes, I voted bearish for this weeks survey.

Good Friday morning all.

While everyone was panicking yesterday morning, we were buyers. We never forget the people in our lives that made the biggest impressions. Professionally, that’s my first mentor Ted Parsons (RIP Ted). Ted’s mentor worked on Wall Street during the crash….

Good Thursday morning all. Another poor jobs report (ADP) took the Dow down 323 points yesterday. Like the Obama economy, we should get used to reports like this. Soon, and take this to the bank, they’ll be manipulated to start looking better, with part time…

Good Friday morning all. Yesterday's trading brought fresh ATH in the S&P 500 with the Dow and Russell 2000 less than 1% from ATH and Nasdaq starting this AM at 1.3% from ATH. And while yesterday's internals were nothing to write home about (meme wars), we continue to like what we see as the semis

Good Thursday morning all. This feels as much like a goldilocks market as I can remember. You know the reasons we’re bullish…the reasons we’ve been aggressively bullish for the last 14 months…but its primarily about two issues. These are the most important two issues of any bull or bear market;

VRA Weekly Update: J Powell & The Bond Market Vigilantes. Beginning of the Big Bubble.

Good Thursday morning all. We begin this morning with a tip of the cap to the Fed’s J Powell. Not only did the Fed nail their written FOMC comments (no rate hikes through 2023) but Powell followed it up with a strong presser, rarely going off-script. More of this please.

Good Thursday morning all. Breaking news this morning from the Bank of England, which stated flat-out “Banks should start preparations for negative rates, if needed”. My spidey senses tell me the BOE wouldn’t have made this statement…out of the blue…unless the odds of negative rates were not high.
